The Executive Director, Initiative for leadership and economic watch in Nigeria, on Monday, May 16th, 2022, addressed the press; call for the immediate sack of the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, over financial fraud of over 80 billion naira and other brazen financial irregularities, which characterized his office.

‘’The Executive Director of ILEWN, stated that, It is rather a misadventure on the part of the nation to have extended Mr.Ahmed Idris stay in office as the Accountant General of the Federation, after reaching 60 years of retirement age, nothing else he would have done afterward than continue to milk the treasury of the nation of scarce resources with frivolous contracts and manipulation of financial records, to divert public funds’’

‘’The Executive Director, Amb. Splendour Agbonkpolor, Noted that the Accountant General is totally in complexity with MDAs to syphon public funds, which is evident in our freedom of information request to him on how billions of naira was paid into individual staff accounts of an agency, in one day, which the accountant general failed to response to, going to almost two years now, which is to us, a clear demonstration of lack of respect to the rule of law’’

‘’The Accountant general of the federation raked off public funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates to syphoned public funds’’

‘’Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria, hereby pass vote of no confidence on Mr. Amhed Idris, the accountant general of the federation, and should be sacked forthwith to avoiding covering his tracks, he cannot be under investigations, and still remain in office as the Account General of the Federation, when he has long attained 60years of statutorily retirement age; it will amount to insult on the intelligence of Nigerians, to allow Mr. Amhed Idris to remain in office, he noted’’
