As the economy of the nation continue to bite harder across the country, the Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria and a host of other Civil Society Organizations are set to hold a rally aimed at exposing the rots in university of Calabar under the current leadership, In a statement signed by the Executive Director of the organization, Amb. Splendour Agbonkpolor, made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday 12th June, 2022.
In statement, the Executive Director, ILEWN, explained that the call is necessary and imperative due to brazen act of corruption committed in the University of Calabar; frittering away taxpayer’s money, against the collective interest of impoverished Nigerian citizens.”
The CSOs also accused the University of financial malpractices capable of capsizing the nation’s economy, an act inimical to the development of the University, if allowed to continue or swept under the carpet.
Sequel to that, the CSOs has therefore deem it imperative to make the bold announcement on her proposed civil action; thereby embarking on public match press briefing, slated for Tuesday 21st of June 2022 at the Ministry Education Head Office and National Assembly Complex respectively, and bring the Information we requested from the Vice Chancellor which she denied clarification, before the public court of opinion for debate.
This we do in the spirit of nipping corruption in the bud in University Calabar, even as we exercise our constitutional rights in line with freedom to peaceful protest and speech, to save the University from collapse due to corruption.
