The Visions of Dr. Mubarak Salihu Musa for the People of Kogi State

During the interaction of the Impart Economic Journal team with Dr. Mubarak Salihu Musa, he unveiled his rich and well-thought-out vision for the people of Kogi whom he is offering himself to serve. The incoming Governor of Kogi state by the grace of God and the popular wish of the people has articulated a seven-point agenda for Kogi state, with which he intends to accomplish a phenomenal transformation of the state. His performance in the private sector attests to his competence and ability   in this regard.

  The Impart Economic Journal hereby elaborate on areas Dr. Mubarak Musa should urgently look into when he becomes Governor of Kogi State, which is as follows;

• Provision of Efficient Security

It is an understatement to say that security of life and property is the most crucial need of man. Without security, the lives of people and their property will be unsafe and liable to be destroyed by the deviant members of the society whose population are growing daily as a result of several factors. Therefore, Dr. Musa has made the security of life and property of Kogi people to be his highest priority. Kogi state is a gateway state bordering several states and FCT, Abuja and serving as the route link to the South with the North of Nigeria. Kogi  is, therefore, a state that needs an efficient security provision by the government to guarantee safety of life for  its people and those traveling through Kogi state to other parts of Nigeria.

True to his principles and passion to serve the people, Dr. Musa informed the Impart Economic Journal team as follows:

“As governor of Kogi state, I’ll prioritize the security of the state by implementing a comprehensive security strategy that includes cooperation with law enforcement agencies and a proactive intelligence gathering and community engagement initiatives at fostering trust between residents and security personnel”.

His words above show that he is quite aware of what to do to make Kogi state safe for its people and the travelers passing through it.

Reforming the Civil Service to Make it Efficient and Proactive

The civil service is the engine of public governance. It is the civil service that drives the activities, policies and programmes of government. As a result of the strategic nature of the civil service to the success of any government and political leader, Dr. Musa has developed a vision to reform the Kogi state civil service in order to make it efficient and productive when he becomes the governor.

 In his interactive session with our team, Dr Musa remarked in this regard as follows:

“As governor, I’ll implement a comprehensive civil service reform to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector. This will involve a thorough review of existing policies and procedures and the introduction of new measures aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and merit-based recruitment and promotion. I’ll also prioritize the training and developing of ivil servants to equip them with skills and knowledge necessary to meet the evolving needs of Kogi state and people”.

• High level Infrastructural Development

The need for infrastructures in a modern society and for increasing population cannot be over-emphasized. The people of Kogi state need all the basic infrastructures such as good roads, bridges, drainages, potable water, power, dams and other public infrastructures. The public infrastructures make life meaningful and worth living for the people. It must be noted that the provision of public infrastructures is a primary duty of government and not that of individual citizens due to the high volume of financial resources required. Therefore, the administration of Dr. Musa as governor of Kogi state will not shy away from its responsibility to the people of the state that he is determined to serve faithfully.

Concerning the above, Dr. Musa clearly informed our team that interacted with him as follows:

“As governor of Kogi state, my administration will prioritize infrastructural development to drive economic growth and improve the well-being of citizens. This will involve identifying key areas for investment such as transportation, power and water infrastructure and developing a comprehensive plan for their construction and maintenance”.

From the above words, it is clear that Dr. Musa has a clear vision of what to do for Kogi people and if he is given the opportunity by the people, they will not be disappointed in making him their next governor.

• Provision of Quality Education

It is a well-known fact that education provides the foundation for the growth, development and survival of a society. Education eliminates ignorance, poverty and strife from the people. Education is light that leads the people on the path of knowledge, wisdom, peace and prosperity. Education is a key area of Dr. Musa’s agenda for Kogi state.

“As governor of Kogi state, I intend to implement a comprehensive and sustainable educational reform that will positively impact the development of the state. This will involve a thorough review of the current educational system to identify areas that require improvement, as well as the formulation and implementation of policies that will enhance the quality of education in Kogi State. My approach will prioritize equitable access to education, teacher -training, modernizing the curriculum, and improving the physical learning environment of the schools. Through these measures, I’ll empower the future generations of Kogi people with the right knowledge and skills necessary to make them succeed in the global economy”.

• Provision of Quality Healthcare

The provision of quality healthcare for the people of Kogi State did not escape the attention of Dr. Mubarak Salihu Musa. As a man with patriotic mission and vision for Kogi people, he intends to provide modern and efficient healthcare services to them.  His government will build more hospitals and equip them with modern medical equipment for efficient healthcare services to the people of the state. The place of efficient healthcare services in the lives of the people must be taken seriously, and this is what the next governor of Kogi state intends to do.

• Development of Modern Agriculture

It must be noted that agriculture is as old as man, and man and agriculture are inseparable.

Man cannot survive without food and food comes from agriculture. Therefore, the government of Dr. Musa has programmed agriculture in its agenda.

Agriculture will be modernized. People will be motivated to go into agriculture with smiles on their faces due to the modern equipment or machinery and social incentives that the government will provide for them to make agriculture easy. Agriculture is what farmers can easily engage in with excitement with the support of the government. As a result, the government of Dr. Musa will provide agriculture machinery such as bulldozers, tractors, seed planters and harvesters to farmers in Kogi state to hire for use in their farms, and this at  subsidized rates. Government intervention in this area of agriculture will assist farmers to increase their production and income, consequently making them richer.

• Youth Empowerment through Job Creation

The youths are the backbone of every society. This is especially true for Kogi state. They are the energy and strength of the society. As the adult population fades away, the youths provide their shoulders for the building of a future modern society that will survive and prosper. As a result of this, Dr. Musa has developed a clear vision for the youths of Kogi State. However, there is one unique characteristic of the youths; they are ordinarily empty and weak; they have to be first filled up with knowledge, skills and training by the adults and the government before they become useful. Thus, the government of Dr.  Musa   will empower the youths before they can become useful to themselves, their families, the country and the global world

“As governor of Kogi state, I’ll prioritize youth empowerment by implementing policies that create job opportunities and promote entrepreneurship. This will involve collaboration with the private sector to establish industries and provide access to capital, training and mentorship programmes for youth entrepreneurs. By so doing, we’ll create an enabling environment that encourages innovation and empowers the youth to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government for their bright future”.

The foregoing demonstrates Dr. Musa’s understanding of the strategic position and role of the youths and his preparedness to empower them for the overall good of the people of Kogi State.

            Conclusion

From the little but rich agenda that Dr. Mubarak Salihu Musa has unveiled to the people of Kogi state, it is safe to conclude that he is indeed the expected next governor of the people of Kogi who are eagerly waiting for him. This is an opportunity for him to replicate the success he has made in his private life and business for the entire people of the state. Little wonder that he is very popular with the people and the people are eager to have him as their next governor.
